From a linguistic perspective, these tongue twisters with Y are quite fascinating because they use several different Y sounds. These many phonemes can be found among these funny phrases and sentences. Let us have a quick look at some different words with Y and examples of their sounds –

These Y sounds appear in the initial, medial, and final parts of words in these tongue twisters.

Further activities

Once your students have had some fun pronouncing the tongue twisters with Y, see if they can create their own. You can either brainstorm a list of why words as a class activity or let them use dictionaries for assistance.
