L blends words
Here we have some free L blends words resources which are otherwise known as consonant blends or consonant clusters. It is important to note that we are only dealing with beginning blends where the letter L appears after another consonant at the beginning of words.
There are 6 letters that combine with L to make blends at the start of words, these are – CL, BL, FL, GL, PL, and SL. By teaching blends and clusters you can not only aid students with any pronunciation issues but also assist in their reading and spelling. For ESL students they have also proven to be very useful in helping my learners both gain and retain new vocabulary.
The free printable word lists above and below contain 60 of the most simple L blends words each. You can print these out as wall charts or simply keep them on hand as useful reference sheets.
