S SH tongue twisters
Refine your students’ pronunciation with these S SH tongue twisters. They also make for an amusing warm-up or cooler activity in any class.
It is also a good chance to teach some new vocabulary; these are the most difficult words – shine, stock, spotted, shipshape, swordfish, slit, slitter, seriously, sew, shrink, shrank, shrunk, slippery, and suds.

Tongue twisters using the S and SH sounds
Here are the S SH tongue twisters. The first 13 are on the free printable worksheet above.
1 – I saw Susie sitting in a shoeshine shop. Where she sits she shines, and where she shines she sits.
2 – Sam’s shop stocks short spotted socks.
3 – She sells seashells on the seashore. The seashells she sells are seashells she is sure.
4 – Sure, sir, the ship’s sure shipshape, sir.
5 – No shark shares swordfish steak.
6 – How many sheets could a sheet slitter slit if a sheet slitter could slit sheets?
7 – Miss Smith’s fish-sauce shop seldom sells shellfish.
