Initial H words
Here we have some free resources for words that start with H. You can use these materials to teach new vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation to both ESL learners and native English students.
An effort has been made to exclude silent H words from the lists, picture cards, and practice sentences. Only words that voice the /h/ sound have been included. Note that there may be some exceptions. The word herb for example can have a silent H in North America but the H is pronounced in other English speaking countries.

Initial H words pictures
Next, we have some picture cards of initial H words that can be used for games and to teach children and beginners. The flashcards contain short easy words that mostly 1 syllable.
For some fun with these H initial words flashcards try one of these ideas with your classes.
Arranging. Ask learners to arrange the cards in alphabetical order. This will help them remember their spelling. Just make sure they read each word aloud as they do so.
Sentence building. Choose several cards from the set randomly and ask students to create a correct sentence that contains all the words.
Matching. Cut the words from the bottom of the pictures and get students to match them together correctly. This will help them to both learn and recall new vocabulary. If it is helpful, you can let your class use a dictionary.

For some extra pronunciation practice, you can ask your students to read these H word sentences aloud.
