Printable owl templates
Owls are wondrous creatures that are often associated with wisdom. There are said to be over 200 species of them across the globe, and they live everywhere bar Antarctica. They are regarded in numerous ways by different cultures and are a hoot of a subject for arts and crafts activities.
On this page, we have a large collection of printable owl templates that can be put to various creative uses. There are owl silhouettes, owl outlines, owl masks, and even paper owl craft sheets. You are bound to find something you need if you are looking to make something about these nighttime birds of prey.
Below you will find owls in many shapes, sizes, and poses. There are owls flying, sitting on branches, and some simply standing.
The next bunch of free PDFs below are for kids’ coloring and even drawing details into the owl outlines. The empty shapes can be used for writing stories, poems, or even owl facts. The cute pictures can be cut out and attached to cardboard rolls or other objects to make them 3-dimensional. Another cool thing to do is to make hanging owl mobiles.
The owl templates below are quite detailed and are perfect for stenciling. There are also some colored owls, which will come in handy if you need to do a quick arts and crafts project.
Owl mask templates
Here we have some paper owl masks. There are blank masks to color in and some that have already been done so for you. Once they’ve been cut out, it is just a matter of making a small hole on each side of the owl’s face that you can use to attach a piece of string.
If you print these masks on paper, it is best to reinforce the holes you make with sticky tape to stop them from tearing. Alternatively, you can print the designs on cardstock, which is a lot stronger.
Note that if you are looking for more fun disguises, there is a whole other page here devoted to printable paper masks for kids.
Paper craft owl templates
Finally, we have fun craft activities for kids to make their own paper owls. These are simple cut and paste activities that only require a few things –
- Pencils or crayons (if you want to use the uncolored versions)
- Scissors
- Glue, sticky tape, or a stapler
- A separate piece of paper to glue them to (if you choose the glue option)
All that needs to be done (once colored or not) is to cut out the shapes and put them together to create an owl.
Answer keys for how they are to be assembled have been provided, but learners don’t necessarily need to follow them. You can choose not to give or show the keys if you want them to be somewhat puzzles as well. Both colored versions and blank versions have been provided in case you also want to add coloring to these projects.
It should be noted that the first owl paper craft below is quite difficult for children without the picture key. They may, however, come up with some interesting creations!
The second make an owl project is much easier than the first and only has 9 pieces to assemble. With the blank template, some details can be added, such as eyeballs and patterns on the owl’s chest and crest. This allows for a whole lot more inventiveness and originality!
