Using the free printable 3D shapes flashcards
Aside from rote learning and flashcard games, you can also use these 3D picture cards for a matching activity. The flashcards are designed so that the pictures and words can be cut into separate pieces. A full set of the cards will give students 40 pieces to match together as correct pairs.
It can also be a good time to introduce prefixes to your class. This will help them identify and remember new vocabulary in the future that share the same prefixes. Some of the numerical prefixes and meanings in this activity are –
Tri = 3, Tetra = 4 = Penta = 5 , Hexa = 6, Octo = 8.
See if your students can think of any words that use these prefixes and explain the meaning of the numbers. For example -A tricycle is a bicycle with 3 wheels. Or, an octopus has 8 legs.
Another thing you can do is to find objects in and around your classroom and school and see if your students can identify their 3D shapes correctly.
