Car craft for kids
Here are some fun paper car craft for kids activities that you can use for art lessons or rainy day activities. There are several cut-and-paste activities to choose from, including a puzzle, an origami car, a folded 3D car, and a car-shaped basket you can make.
These paper projects don’t require much to complete. Depending on which activity you want to do, you will only need a few basic things such as –
- The printed PDF on paper/cardstock
- scissors
- glue
- sticky tape
- pencils/crayons/markers
It also doesn’t take very long to complete any of these car craft printables, so you can usually do more than one in a sitting or a single class. Okay, let’s have a look at what we have!
The first 2 printables create a rabbit driving a pickup truck. Once the pages have been printed, all children need to do is cut out the pieces and join them together on another piece of paper with glue or sticky tape. There is a colored version (above) and a blank version (below) in case you want to involve coloring.
No key has been provided because the finished picture is quite obvious. Join the 2 car pieces, put the wheels on the truck, give the rabbit its head and ears, then its waving arm. The ears and arm can be at any angle kids want.
Easy car craft for kids cut and paste 2
The second activity makes a simple paper car that is a sedan. Again, it is all a matter of cutting and pasting the pieces together. A key has been provided this time as there are some smaller parts that children may not be sure where to put.
You can choose not to show the key, which makes the activity harder. Learners will need to decide where they want the pieces to go and perhaps create some interesting variations.
You can also provide the key, and kids can place the shapes on top of it. This is good for shape recognition in younger learners, although for children this age, you will need to cut the pieces out for them. Car craft for kids cut and paste 3
The template below creates a smiling giraffe in a car. This one is a bit trickier than the first 2 as there are some very small pies to be cut out. Again, an answer key has been provided should you need one.
Note that there is no outline version of this printable, but you can color in a printed black and white version with markers or Sharpies.
Car crafts for kids puzzle
Next, we have a paper puzzle that makes a car. There is a shape template for any learners who may need it. This is another easy craft exercise that is suitable for younger children.
For similar activities, try one of the picture mix up puzzle printables.
Origami car craft for kids
Here is a set of step-by-step instructions that show how to fold a square piece of paper into a car. Once the folding is done, use pencils or markers to draw in the car details.

3D paper car craft
Next, we have two 3D car template printables. One that is pre-colored and one that needs to be colored in. You will want to color in the blank one before cutting it out.
Once you have cut out the template, it is just a matter of folding it and gluing/taping it together. Sticky tape works best, and you are better off printing this one on card stock so that it is more rigid.
Another thing to note is that the tabs that are to be folded for inside the cars (in the center of the template) are quite small, especially if you assemble it with glue. It is a good idea to cut them outside the lines so that they are larger.
Paper car craft for kids basket
Our final printable creates a basket-shaped car that kids can use to carry small things. Cardstock is recommended here, but it isn’t essential. You can reinforce the flimsy parts, like those around the windows, and the wheel shapes with sticky tape
The biggest challenge you will face is cutting out the window space, but this doesn’t have to be done; you can just leave them filled in. The shape of the wheels must be cut, which can be tricky. A box cutter works best for this job if you struggle doing it with scissors. Of course this isn’t something you should let small children do by themselves.
