Stone Age Coloring Pages
The Stone Age is commonly divided into 3 separate periods of time namely the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic eras. These periods are defined by the complexity and sophistication of the tools humans used at the time.
Below, we have 2 coloring sheets that have typical things that are associated with the Stone Age and cave people.
In the early Stone Age, people lived in caves. Later on, they learned to fashion shelters out of plants, wood, and animal hides. People started as hunter-gatherers, foraging in the wild for edible plants, fishing, and hunting whatever they could.
Further in time, in the Neolithic era, people gained the skills of farming and domesticating animals. They were also making pottery, weaving, and building megalithic stone structures.
Cave art has given researchers fascinating insight into the Stone Age and those who lived at the time. There are over 400 archeological sites in the world that depict animals such as mammoths, rhinos, bears, and bison. Some small statues that were made at this time have also been found inside caves.
Wooly mammoths were said to have lived in herds. They had smaller ears than the elephants we know today and had tusks that extended as long as 15 feet. They lived at the same time as humans in the Stone Age, and remains of them have been found alongside stone tools. They are also depicted in ancient cave art.
Interestingly, during this period there was also a massive wooly rhino that went extinct at the end of the last Ice Age. They were estimated to be over 1.5 meters tall and weighed nearly 2 tons.

These last few prehistoric man coloring pages are great for children. They feature cute, funny cartoon-style drawings that are easy to color.
There is a coloring sheet of a Stone Age man here that also has a wheel. This is slightly misleading, as it is believed that the wheel was not used for transport until the Bronze Age. It is thought, however, that wheels may have been used for pottery and spindles at the end of the Neolithic era.
