Planet Earth coloring pages
There are some special days in the calendar year in which you may choose to use the Earth coloring sheets in the classroom environment. The dates are not holidays but have been chosen as times to bring awareness to issues our globe is suffering from and helping try to solve them. These days include –
World Wildlife Day – March the 3rd
World Earth Day/Mother Earth Day – April the 22nd.
International Day for Biodiversity – May the 22nd.
World Environment Day – June the 5th.
World Ocean Day – June the 8th.
World Nature Conservation Day – July the 28th.
World Environmental Health Day – September the 26th
World Animal Day – October the 4th.
Things you can do with the Earth coloring pages
There are a few things you can do with these free PDF pages that don’t just involve coloring them in. Try one of these fun educational activities!
Add slogans. These can simply be one of the names of the environmental days mentioned above, such as World Earth Day, or something else that students would like to say about the planet.
Make globes. Once you have completed coloring in one of the pictures, cut it out and stick it to an inflated balloon. Note that some of the printables are more suitable for this than others.
Writing prompts. The earth coloring sheets can be used for writing inspiration. Students can write short stories, poetry, or informational articles, or their thoughts about the earth. This can be done where there is space, on the back side of the pages, or on an accompanying piece of paper.
Labeling. On many of the printables, learners can label continents, countries, and oceans. This will help reinforce their knowledge of world geography. There are also some world map worksheets here at ESL Vault if you want to take this idea a step further.
