Th sound tongue twisters
Updated 12/9/2022
This printable is good practice for the pronunciation of TH sounds. It contains both voiced and voiceless TH words.
The voiced th sound uses a buzzing sound from the throat. You need to use your vocal cords and make sure that your tongue is positioned between your teeth.
The voiceless th is one of the most difficult sounds to pronounce in the English language. Quite often it is mispronounced as an f sound. To achieve the correct voiceless th sound, put your tongue between your teeth. Blow out the air between your tongue and your top teeth. Do not use your voice – the sound is made only with your mouth. It is a good idea to practice this with students before tackling the printable tongue twisters activity.
